Ahmedabad: Investigative news portal Gulail has claimed it will release more audio tapes on Tuesday on the alleged snooping row involving Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi's key aide and then state home minister Amit Shah.
"Gulail will release new audiotapes that completely demolish the BJP's web of lies on Snoopgate. Gulail is in exclusive possession of these tapes that are not even with the CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation)," said the news portal on Tuesday.
The Centre will reportedly start an inquiry into alleged illegal surveillance and phone tapping of a woman by Shah.
"As per the law one needs the permission of the Union Home Secretary to carry out any kind of surveilllance. When a probe is conducted, we will find out what happened," said Union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde.
Congress general secretary Digvijaya Singh earlier said there is evidence that Shah had ordered surveillance of a woman.
"Snoopgate- Done by Gujarat Police under instructions of Amit Shah Home Portfolio with CM. Clinching evidence in Singhal Tapes. Any comments?" tweeted Singh.
The Gujarat government has formed a two-member inquiry panel to probe into the snooping allegations against Shah.
The probe panel consists of retired Gujarat High Court judge Sugnyaben K Bhatt and retired former Additional Chief Secretary KC Kapoor.
The panel has been asked to submit its report within three months.
