New Delhi, Aug 28 (IBNS) The Supreme Court on Tuesday said it would like to shift the trial of the Sohrabuddin fake encounter case to Maharashtra.
The apex court said it will shift the trial if it has to allow former Gujarat minister Amit Shah, an accused in the case, to enter the state for the upcoming assembly polls.
"We have strong reservation about conducting the trial in Gujarat. Trial has to shift to Maharashtra," said a bench comprising justice Aftab Alam and justice Ranjana Prakash Desai.
The SC will hear the case next on Sept 4.
Sohrabuddin Sheikh and his wife Kausar Bi were killed in an alleged staged encounter near Ahmedabad in November 2005. Tulsiram Prajapati, an eyewitness in the 'murder', was also killed in an alleged fake police encounter in 2006 end.
