Solidarity vigil for Hyderabad blast victims in Delhi

New Delhi, Feb 23 (IANS) Holding a solidarity vigil for victims of the Hyderabad bombings, members of 12 youth organisations lit candles at the Dilli Haat here Saturday evening.

"Is is an inhuman act by some cowards. Today, we are gathered here to show them that we are unaffected by their cowardly acts to spread hatred and the attempt to divide society," Ravi Nitesh, 30, a member of Bhartiyam, said outside the popular open-air food plaza and craft bazar in south Delhi.

The other youth organizations that participated in the vigil were ANHAD, Buniyaad-Ek Behtar Kal Ki, AFDWOSE, Ayodhya Ki Awaaz, STEP, Yuva Koshish, Awan Ka Cinema and Samar.

Bhavan Matei, 26, a media professional from Manipur, said: "I want to support peace. We condemn any kind of violence, whether it's in any part of India."

The members gathered outside Dilli Haat and lit candles in the memory of the 16 people who have died in the twin bombings. They also sang songs of peace.

Tanveer Hussain Khan, 30, who joined the vigil with his friends from Jammu and Kashmir, said that any such act must not weaken bonding between people and they all have to reply to such attacks with their unity.

Many people visiting Dilli Haat also joined the youth members to express solidarity with victims of the Hyderabad blast.

"We cannot bring back the innocent lives lost but we pray for their soul. We pray for the relatives of the deceased," said Meenakshi Seth, a 22-year-old college student.
