After playing numerous characters in her more than 50 years career, Barbie is all set to take on a new avatar of an architect. tanding high at 11-and- half inches in her trendy ankle boots and carrying a hardhat and pink drawing tube, Mattel's Architect Barbie, icon of the building trades is ready for launch.
He has since long been looking to highlight careers where women are underrepresented and "architect" seemed to be the right fit for displaying "Barbie's rebellious side."
"We hope Architect Barbie not only introduces young girls to the profession but that these girls shake things up once they get there," said Despina Stratigakos, UB professor of architecture and visual studies.
"On the educational side of the issue, we hope that this project will make little girls more aware of the importance of design and the architectural profession. We also hope that this will encourage architectural education in grade schools," said architect, Hayes McAlonie. (ANI)
