Cairo, Feb 11 (IANS) Three South Korean tourists and their Egyptian guide were abducted in southern Egypt Friday, police said.

The tourists, two males and one female, all above 50 years old, were kidnapped on their way back from the Saint Catherine monastery to the resort city of Sharm el-Sheihk.

They were abducted by Bedouin tribesmen, Xinhua reported. It was not immediately clear why they have been kidnapped.

The security situation in Sinai penensula has deteriorated after the then Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak was ousted from power in February 2011.
