A recent article by a Chinese strategic analyst calling for China to dismember India has understandably angered Indians.
That the trust lost by India in the Chinese after the 1962 India-China war and the events preceding it was never re-built, is common knowledge.
The Pakistanis got very close to China immediately after the India-China War, under a strategy devised by a young and brash Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, even though Pakistan was a member of both CENTO and SEATO, ostensibly to prevent the spread of communism!
The Chinese demanded their pound of flesh in the form of 11,000 Square Miles of PoK territory bordering Xinjiang (Sinkiang) that Pakistan quietly acceded to that country. The grateful Chinese never let down Pakistan after this.
The 'taller-than-the-tallest-mountain and deeper-than-the-deepest-ocean' relationship between Pakistan and China, as Pakistanis are so fond of describing it at every conceivable opportunity, was further cemented when Gen.Yahya Khan secretly helped the establishment of contacts between the US and an isolated China.
