Stosur clinches US Open title

Australian Tennis star Samantha Stosur created history on Sunday night as she defeated Serena Williams to lift the women's singles title of US Open, here.

Stosur won her first grand slam title by defeating her mighty opponent from US by 6-2, 6-3 margin in the final match that lasted for one hour and thirteen minutes at the Flushing Meadows.

The Australian Tennis player completely dominated the game over her opponent who has much more experience of playing grandslam final matches than Stosur who had played a single grand slam final before this encounter.

Williams committed 25 unforced errors in comparison to Stosur´s 12.

It was a shocking defeat for Williams who came to the match as favourite over her Australian opponent.

Meanwhile, controversies erupted in the final match as the US star reacted angrily to the chair umpire Eva Asderaki when Williams was given a game-ending one-point penalty for shouting.

The point was given to Stosur by the umpire.
