New Delhi, Nov 4 (IBNS) The 52nd Subroto Cup Football Tournament 2011 was kicked off at Dr. Ambedkar Stadium on Friday morning.
Air Marshal JN Burma PVSM AVSM VSM, Air Officer-in-Charge Administration & Vice-Chairman, Subroto Mukerjee Sports Education Society, the Chief Guest for the ceremony declared the tournament 'open'.
The ceremony witnessed cultural programmes by Indian Revival Group and a hip-hop and jazz display by the students from Air Force Senior Secondary School, Race Course.
The opening match was played between NCC (West Bengal & Sikkim) and Sainik School, Imphal.
In a well contested match, Rentu Roy (Jersey No. 15) of NCC (WB & S) scored the first goal of the tournament in the 31st minute. He added one more goal to his credit in the 38th minute. NCC (WB&S) won by 2 goals to nil.
