Jalalabad: Punjab Deputy Chief Minister and SAD (B) chief Sukhbir Singh Badal on Monday filed his nomination papers for the Jalalabad assembly seat and said development would be his party's main plank in the state assembly poll.
Accompanied by his wife and MP Harsimrat Kaur and another lawmaker Sher Singh Ghubhaya, Badal submitted his documents at the office of the Sub-Divisional Magistrate.
Krishna Rani, wife of MP Ghubhaya, filed her papers as a cover candidate for Badal.
The Jalalabad constituency falls in the border district of Ferozepur.
Talking to reporters after filing the nomination, Badal said the SAD-BJP alliance would fight the election focusing on development.
There would be no personal attacks during the campaign, he said adding the masses would vote for the SAD-BJP alliance for further development in the state.
The SAD (B) head claimed the Congress party was facing rebellion in more than 38 seats.
"This has given birth to a fifth front - Azad Congress - in addition to SAD-BJP, Congress, Sanjha Morcha and BSP," he said.
