Support My School campaign touches 200 mark

Beverage major Coca-Cola India, in association with NGO partner Plan India, dedicated the Nallagutta School in Ranigunj, Secunderabad, revitalised under the company's Support My School campaign.

"Pledges of over Rs. 13.5 crore were raised for revitalization work under the second leg of the campaign, which was officially kicked off in August 2012. Campaign partner Plan India provided the contributions to restore and revamp the Nallagutta School," the company said in a statement.

The school was dedicated to the children and community of Ranigunj by Irial Finan, Executive Vice President, The Coca-Cola Company, and President of Bottling Investments and Supply Chain along with senior government functionaries and dignitaries including Mukesh Kumar Meena, IAS, District Collector & Magistrate, Hyderabad and B. Janardhan Reddy, Commissioner and Director, Muncipal Administration, Hyderabad.

Enthused by the progress made by the initiative, iconic cricketer and Campaign Ambassador Sachin Tendulkar said, "I'd like to congratulate Coca-Cola on this endeavour. We completed Season 1 on a high mark with a century of schools revitalized under the initiative. As the campaign moves into the completion of Season 2, I am keenly looking forward to achieving the 200 mark! All the campaign partners have worked hard to reach this landmark."

"I hope these revitalized schools will act as an example for relevant authorities to come forth and replicate, towards creating a renewed education landscape for the children of our country," he said.

Launched in January 2011, the Support My School campaign aims to create happy and healthy learning environments for students across rural and semi-urban India by providing schools with basic amenities such as access to water and proper toilets for girls and boys. Over 43,000 students across 10 states were impacted over Season 1 of the campaign.
