Suspected Maoist killed in Jharkhand

Ranchi, Sept 19 (IBNS) A suspected Maoist was killed in an encounter with security personnel in Jharkhand's Chatra district, said police on Wednesday.

In an encounter that lasted for about an hour early morning, three security personnel were injured.

"Acting on a tip off that a group of around 10 Maoists, including zonal commander Bararasi Yadav, have entered a village in Chatra, the Jharkhand Police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel raided the area around 4 am," said Jharkhand police spokesman S N Pradhan.

"A suspected Maoist was killed while two others were injured," he said.

One AK 47 rifle, three regular rifles, three civilian rifles, one revolver, 200 rounds of cartridges, Naxalite literature and levy receipts were recovered from the encounter site.
