Srinagar, May 11 (IBNS) Suspected militants gunned down a civilian in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district, police said on Saturday.
Lassipora village resident Mudassir Ahmed Mir was reportedly shot dead by suspected militants around 11pm on Friday.
"According to Mir´s neighbours, he had came home around 9pm post his evening prayers and finished dinner when some men, suspected to be militants, called him outside and shot him," said a police official.
One of Mir´s neighbours, Imtiyaz Ahmed, said: " His murder came as a shock for us as he has no enmity with anyone. He is the father of three kids and is an innocent man. Why should anyone kill him?"
Mir´s funeral was held on Saturday morning.
The police said they have registered a case and have started investigations.
In a separate incident, an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of the Jammu and Kashmir Police was killed by suspected militants in Pulwama on Friday afternoon.
