Tagore's audio book released

An audio book on Rabindranath Tagore's two short stories, 'Khokababur Pratyabartan' and 'Shasti' was released on Saturday in a full packed house at the Oxford Bookstore, here.

The audio book has been narrated by the Vice President of Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), Bharati Ray.

The audio book was released by Emeritus Fellow, St Anthony´s College, Oxford and National Research Professor, Tapan Raychaudhuri, India. The classic works of the Nobel laureate were recorded by Saregama India Ltd.

Present at the occasion were cinema and theatre personality, Barun Chanda and novelist and academician Nabaneeta Debsen.

Bharati Ray read out the beginning and the conclusion of "Shasti" during the occasion. Barun Chanda went through the first and third para of "Khokababur Pratyabartan".

Tapan Raychaudhuri congratulated Ray for the attempt.

He also asserted that people still love books and present generation is no alien to the books. "We do not know which books are being bought, but it is still a reality that they are being loved. This love for literature has to grow more and more."

The programme concluded with two of the lyrics of Rabindranath Tagore, "Tomar Surer Dhara Jhare Jethai" and "O je mane na mana", sung by Sohini Mukhophadhyay, vocalist of Rabindra Sangeet.

The book became instantly available at the Oxford Bookstore. But it would be available elsewhere after two days.

Ray urged the people to give complete support to her endeavour by grabbing the book more and more, so that she can put up another effort like this in near future.
