Tamil fishermen brought back

Rameswaram: Two Tamil Nadu fishermen, who drifted into Sri Lankan waters following adverse weather conditions earlier this month, were handed over to the Indian Cost Guard officials at the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL) on Saturday.

Similarly, nine Sri Lankan fishermen, who were taken into custody by Indian Coast Guard on charges of crossing the IMBL few weeks back,were handed over to Sri Lankan Naval officials.

According to a Coast Guard press release here, their ship took the Sri Lankan fishermen to the IMBL and handed them to the Sri Lankan Navy. Their fishing boats were also returned, the release said.

The Coast Guard also brought back the Tamil fishermen, handed over by the Lankan Navy, the release said.
