What current project (or idea!) of yours are you most excited to share with everyone at TEDIndia?

I am currently campaigning for the 2012 Olympics and aim to be the first Indian woman sailor to participate at the Olympics.

I am also studying medicine. I am now in the third year of my MBBS degree at Chengalpet Govt Medical College.

I want the youth and women of India to know that it is possible to follow your dream and that we (as Indians) are capable of incredible things. If you really want it, you can make it happen.

Who are the people that have greatly inspired you and your work?

My family has certainly played a huge role in making me who I am today. My younger brother - Ajay Rau, he is one of India's top Laser sailors also campaigning for 2012; has also been a big motivator. They believed in me, and made me believe in myself.

Ben Tan - a sailor from Singapore, won medals at the Asian Games and took part in the Olympics while doing his final year of Medicine.

What are you most looking forward to at TEDIndia?

I look forward to meeting people from various walks of life, all brilliant in their own way; listen to their various talks and performances. Also make people aware that a sport like sailing exists in India! With our vast coastline, this wonderful sport should be enjoyed by more people in India.

What is your favorite TEDTalk?

I liked the talk and performance by Serena Huang. I think she is very gifted.

What does India mean to you?

India is a diverse country. Even though it has its drawbacks in being a hugely populated country, its diversity in terms of culture, religion, food, clothes and people makes it unique.

It is an amazing feeling to represent a country like India - The largest democracy in the world.
