After the Congress came to power at the Centre in 2004, they have been crossing paths with everyone left, right and centre. A look at the A to Z of such confrontations…
A for Anna Hazare
This one was the biggest spectacles of 2011. The Congress appeared to have lost the fight during the August Kranti, but had the last laugh by not passing the Lokpal Bill and watching Anna fade away.
B for BJP
The Janata Party and Janata Dal disintegrated. The Congress’ pet peeve is that the BJP have lasted so long as the principal opposition. The two clash via rival spokespersons, on TV and of course in Parliament.
C for CAG
The CAG had the Congress on the mat for so long that finally the latter threw down the gauntlet. They rubbished the CAG, declared a zero loss in the 2G scam, and brushed aside Coalgate, appealing to the Supreme Court. CAG had the last laugh when the court declared that it was not merely a “munimji” but a constitutional body.
