Have you noticed that of late, India is becoming a more and more intolerant nation? Common people are increasingly resorting to violent means of protests, so much so that we can have an A to Z of them, mainly based around politics and prominent personalities.
In most cases, politicians are at the receiving end, but in some cases they or their men have done the hitting.
The phenomenon of ''shoeing'' also seems to have greatly captured the imagination of India.
A for Arvind Kejriwal
In Lucknow, activist Kejriwal had a slipper thrown at him. The attacker threatened to give the same treatment to Anna Hazare if given the chance and lost his job at his construction firm. Kejriwal on his part refused to file an FIR and even appealed against his attacker’s employers to re-instate him. At another venue when Kejriwal was greeted with black flags, he said that the protestors had a right to speak.
B for Bhushan
Another Team Anna member Prashant Bhushan was thrashed by a till then unknown group called the Bhagat Singh Kranti Sena in court premises. They were protesting his remarks over the Kashmir issue. The interesting part was that they updated their Facebook status first. The same group had heckled writer Arundhati Roy at an earlier public meet.
