At least three people died and several others were injured after a portion of an under-construction Mumbai Metro bridge collapsed in Andheri East on Wednesday night.
The incident took place at around 11 pm near the international airport.
A case of negligence has also been registered against the construction company Larsen and Tubro.
According to reports, eight fire tenders and four ambulances immediately reached the spot and rescue operations were in full swing.
The police inspector, Uttam Kolekar said on Thursday that a case has been registered against the engineer, contractor and supervisor of the company.
"Yesterday at 11.10 pm an elevated road was under-construction at the forecourt elevated access road to airport and a portion of which collapsed. In this incident three people died and six people are injured.
"The injured are being given medical treatment in Holy Spirit, Medicare and Seven Hills. A case has been registered against engineer, supervisor and erection contractor of L and T and investigation is going on," said Kolekar.
Few of the injured were said to be critical and were rushed to a nearby hospital.
The authorities have ordered for a probe into the matter.
Many bridges do not conform to safety regulations, with owners constructing extra structures without approval from the concerned authorities. (ANI)
