The Utah governor's office says about 100 homes are damaged in Carbon County after a severe thunderstorm flooded the area Monday night.

Gov. Gary Herbert said Tuesday in a statement from his office that state officials are working with local municipalities in the affected areas.

The sheriff's office reported homes in the cities of Helper, Spring Glen and Carbonville were damaged, as well as the Westwood area about 100 miles southeast of Salt Lake City.

County road crews started the cleanup effort Monday and are providing hundreds of sandbags for people affected by the waters.

The news comes as more than 20 homes were evacuated following an early morning landslide that destroyed a hillside home in North Salt Lake.

City engineer Paul Ottoson said at a news conference Tuesday that one house remains in immediate danger if it rains tonight. No injuries have been reported.
