TN should seek additional power from centre: PMK

Erode: Tamil Nadu Government should approach the Centre and get additional allocation of power from central grid to tide over the shortage faced by the state, PMK President G K Mani said on Sunday.

Urging Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to immediately sanction a minimum of 1000 MW from the Central grid, he told reporters here that the state government also should set up more hydel power generation projects.

He said PMK would contest the 2014 Lok Sabha elections on its own. However, if like minded political parties approached it, the party would lead a front, he said.

He also wanted the entrance examinations for IITs and IIMs to be conudcted in regional languages.
