Tolly star Nusrat Jahan flags off car rally

Kolkata: Bengal Motor Sports Club & AAEI-Durgapur organized 'XtraRewards Kolkata Car Rally', on Saturday, the biggest TSD (time, speed and distance) rally in eastern India, where 58 cars & 100 of motor sports enthusiasts participated.

Somdeb Chanda and Nirav Mehta became winners in the general category and Avik Bhattacharya and Bijoy Majumdar became winners in the novice category.

TSD rallying (Time Speed Distance) is a form of motor sports usually conducted on public roads as well as off-road and dirt sections.

The objective of these rallies is to maintain precise times and precise speeds on various segments of a predefined route mentioned in a road book.

The rally was flagged off by Tollywood actor Nusrat Jahan from Salt Lake Stadium, VIP gate and screeched to halt at City Centre, Durgapur.

The rally is run under the guidance of Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India.

West Bengal Sports Minister Madan Mitra was the chief guest at the flagging off ceremony along with Rachpal Singh, State Tourism Minister.

Samir Basu, the Secretary of AAEI-Durgapur, said: "It is extremely encouraging to see such a great turn out. It is after many years that a TSD rally of this magnitude has been organised. We are happy to be associated with XtraRewards Kolkata Car Rally."

"With our collective effort and enthusiasm shown by motor sports lovers, the sun will shine bright in the horizon of eastern India's motor sporting circuit in the future" added Souvik Ghosh, the Coordinator of the rally.
