Tourists here have expressed delight over a fresh spell of snowfall, though it has resulted in temperatures plummeting in the upper reaches of the region.
People were seen draped in woollen clothes as they enjoyed the snowfall.
The snow covered mountains was a visual treat for the tourists who thronged to Musssoorie.
"We are enjoying the weather in Mussoorie. I am with my family and enjoying a lot. This is the first time ever that I have witnessed snowfall and I am feeling very happy," said Kamala Devi, a tourist.
For many, the hill town of Mussoorie is a holiday paradise, especially during winters as large number of tourists flock to witness snowfall.
The dip in the temperature was brought about by intermittent rains in Delhi on Tuesday, which added to the misery of the people as they tried to beat the biting cold by warming themselves sitting around the bonfire.
In the absence of inadequate shelters, several people were seen sleeping on the foot paths and roadsides in the national capital
"It seems that the temperature have dropped drastically in the last two to three days. We are sitting here around the fire to keep ourselves warm. We sit like this and spend the night, waiting for sunlight when the temperature becomes bearable," Naresh Kumar, a local resident, said.
A cold wave is sweeping through most parts of northern India, including Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh.
The fresh spell of rainfall intensified the cold conditions in New Delhi and as well as in other parts of the country. (ANI)
