Tremors felt in Assam, Meghalaya and Bengal

​New Delhi: An earthquake of moderate intensity shook Assam and rest of the North East on Friday but there was no immediate report of any casualty or damage to properties.

The quake measuring 5.4 on the Richter scale with epicentre in Tezpur district struck at 6.11pm, said R F Dattatreya of Met Department in Delhi.

He said the quake was of "moderate" intensity.

Panic-stricken people ran out of their homes after the quake.
