The Ahmedabad City Detection of Crime Branch (DCB) on Monday said they have arrested two people for allegedly passing on confidential military information to Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).

The police said the youths passed on confidential information connected to Army base in Bhuj and Army Cantonment to ISI.

The police said they arrested Sirajuddin Fakir Ali (22) and Mohammad Ayub Shaikh (23) on Sunday following a tip-off that confidential military information were being sent through e-mails.

Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) A K Sharma told reporters: "Crime Branch police have registered a case and are probing the nature and quantity of information provided by the duo to ISI."

Both Ali and Ayub are residents of Jamalpur area.

The police said Ayub is a journalism student while Ali supplied eggs and chickens to Army cantonments in different parts of Gujarat.

The ISI officials contacted Ali when he visited Pakistan four years ago to meet his relatives, the police said.

They asked him to collect crucial military information and supply it to them and promised to give him good amount of money for the job.

Ayub helped Ali in sending e-mails, reports said.

Both Ali and Ayub have been booked for espionage.
