At least two people were killed and several others were injured after an under construction building collapsed in Faridabad, Haryana, on Tuesday.
The incident took place in Sector-88 in Greater Faridabad when the under construction building collapsed.
The sub-divisional magistrate, Sushil Sarwan, said rescue and relief operations were on in full swing.
"I have been told that the workers are engaged in rescue operations and we can say anything after that only. It has been said that it was more than two storey building. We cannot say anything and the relief operations are in full swing," said Sarwan.
So far, 12 injured people have been rescued and admitted to a government hospital.
"I was working in an adjacent building and we came when we heard the sound. There were three to four floors and I saw that the entire building was caved in," said Ahmed, a witness.
The authorities have ordered a probe in the matter.
Many Indian buildings do not conform to safety regulations, with owners constructing extra floors or structures without approval from the concerned authorities and beyond the sanctioned floor space index (FSI) or floor area ratio (FAR). (ANI)
