New Delhi: The dismal showing by the Congress in Uttar Pradesh was "deeply disappointing", Law Minister Salman Khurshid on Tuesday said.
As it became clear that the Congress would have to settle for a meagre 26 of 403 seats, Khurshid said the party had hoped to perform better in Uttar Pradesh with Rahul Gandhi leading the charge.
"The results are deeply disappointing," Khurshid told Times Now channel. "But we don't have to close shop. This is not the end of the world."
Khurshid's wife Louise herself suffered a humiliating defeat in Farrukhabad. All five Congress candidates were stunningly routed in Rae Bareli, party chief Sonia's Gandhi Lok Sabha constituency.
