Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Yashwant Sinha on Friday alleged that the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government has created a 'financial mess' in India.
He also called Prime Minister Manmohan Singh as an ´overrated economist´.
"The mess is domestically created and it is the government which has created the mess," Sinha told media.
"He (Manmohan Singh) is an overrated economist and an underrated politician," he said.
"He believes that he is a consultant to the government because consultancy is what he has done most of his life. Giving advice, not implementing it," Sinha said.
Singh took over the finance portfolio after Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee resigned from the post last month to contest the upcoming Presidential election.
