South Florida's Anthony Crater suffered a right shoulder injury during last week's Big East tournament and is expected to be sidelined six months while recovering from surgery.

The Bulls announced Tuesday that the junior guard will undergo an operation this week to repair cartilage and a small bone fracture. He was injured attempting to make a steal during the opening half of USF's second-round loss to Cincinnati at Madison Square Garden.

Crater averaged 3.9 points and 4.6 assists per game for the Bulls. He was the star of USF's upset of Villanova in the first round of the conference tournament, making two layups in the 23 seconds to give USF the win after the Bulls had trailed by 16 points at halftime.

Crater is expected to be back on the court by mid-October.
