Former Indian army chief V K Singh has praised former Pakistani ruler Parvez Musharraf for apparently having crossed the Line of Control in 1999 and spent a night on Indian-controlled territory during the Kargil War.
"As a military commander, I commend General Musharraf that he came 11 kms into enemy territory and spent the night with his troops. It is a testament to his internal courage..." Singh said.
"On the other hand, from our side, what was happening all of you know..Why did we let them in? There were some lapses on our part."
Controversy over Musharraf crossing the border reignited after a television show with the claims of former Pakistani army official Col (retired) Ashfaq Hussain was broadcast again on Thursday.
