Veteran journalist Sumanta Sen dead

Kolkata, Feb 18 (IBNS) Veteran journalist Sumanta ( Kajal) Sen died here early this morning. He was 70 and survived by a daughter. His wife predeceased him a couple of years ago.

Sumanta, great grandson of noted Bengali litterateur Dinesh Chandra Sen, was suffering from severe spondelysis and was lying very ill for some time ,

Sumanta first joined The Statesman in Kolkata in late Sixties and served the paper for quite some time. He also acted as Resident Editor of Patna edition of Times of India. Sumanta, nephew of noted Bengali poet of modern era Samar Sen, was active in Press Club , Kolkata and served there as secretary during 1975.

Sumanta wrote two books on Abanindranath Tagore and poet Kaji Nazrul Islam.
