Thane: Social activist and senior Shiv Sena leader Vivek Pandit, who is contesting as an Independent candidate from Vasai, has promised to put up "suggestion boxes” and set up "information centres” and a 24-hour helpline in his constituency even as he come out with a "promissory note” instead of a regular conventional manifesto. Pandit, who is the candidate for Vasai Jan Andolan, a conglomerate of different political parties and social organizations, during the release of his manifesto, said that in two years, he would try and solve the problem of acute load-shedding in his Vasai area. "We assure that our every decision will bear the mandate of 'will of the people’,” said.
Pandit said that industrial and IT zones would be created with necessary basic infrastructure to boost employment. Works under Ghateghar and Kaman water supply schemes would be undertaken immediately, he said, adding that pending works of the ambitious Surya project would be completed as early as possible.
