Former Army chief V K Singh on Friday joined hands with the Rahstriya Kisan Majdoor Sangathan (RKMS) on the troubles faced by sugarcane farmers and backed its decision to gherao the Parliament on Dec 4.
"I am endorsing a call of Parliament gherao as it is in the interest of farmers and poor," Singh said while addressing a press conference.
Objecting the Rangarajan Committee report on sugarcane farmers, Singh and RKMS convenor V M Singh, wrote to Prime Minister and said: "In case the report is not rejected, canegrowers of northern states would gherao Parliament on December 4 as a protest against the said report."
Singh earlier this week made bitter attack on the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government and said the Parliament should be immediately dissolved if India were to follow its enshrined welfare state norms.
"Government is against the Constitution. We demand that the Parliament be dissolved and elections held immediately," Singh said here.
"People should choose the new government," Singh said.
