United Progressive Alliance (UPA) chairperson Sonia Gandhi is all set to host a lunch for Members of Parliament (MPs) of the alliance partners and supporting parties in New Delhi on Monday, Congress sources said.
Sonia is hosting a lunch a day before the Vice-Presidential poll on August 7.
According to reports, West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo Mamata Banerjee has asked party MPs to attend the lunch.
However, Mamata has not clarified her support for UPA candidate Hamid Ansari for the poll.
The lunch is likely to be attended by leaders of main alliance partners like the Congress, TMC, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK).
Leaders from other parties like Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Samajwadi Party (SP) and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) are likely join Gandhi´s lunch meeting, Congress sources said.
Sonia had earlier hosted luncheon meeting for allied MPs on July 18, a before India's Presidential election.
Mamata had skipped the lunch at New Delhi´s Ashoka Hotel but the party´s Rajya Sabha MPs KD Singh and Sukhendu Shekhar Roy attended it on her behalf.
