Want to put 330-350 runs on board: Gambhir

Indian team match opener Gautam Gambhir Wednesday said, "If we can put 330-350 on the board and ball well, it would be a good match," after the Indian team closed batting at 273 runs for seven wickets.

Gambhir, who opened the match with Virender Sehwag was disappointed about Viru´s run out at 23, considering the team´s point of view and strategy.

"I was watching the ball and I thought that Viru was rather taking a risk. That was not a situation to take 3 runs...but then it happens. Personally talking, I am more disappointed on the team´s part rather than being disappointed personally," he said.

"If we would have been there, we could have dominated tomorrow. You won the toss and when you get 47 runs on board and losing a partner of course influences the mind," he added.

Speaking on Sachin´s score, he said, "Every run is important. I´ve always maintained it´s not about individuals. It´s not about getting a 100 for me or Sachin...it´s about what the team does collectively."

James Anderson´s ball reverse act post tea session helped England claim three wickets and made India manage a meager score of 273 for seven on day one of the third Test here.

Igniting a ray of hope, Gambhir said, "Zaheer Khan is a master of reverse swing. If he gets going, I think it would be worrying for England. Hopefully, Zaheer and Ishant can do the job for us and play a big role for India."
