Former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Nitin Gadkari on Sunday hit out at alleged fear mongering by the ruling party regarding the Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi's outlook towards minorities, saying that the saffron party is against terrorism, not against minorities.

Addressing a huge gathering here, Gadkari said: "Under a BJP government, there will be no discrimination on the basis of caste or community - everybody will get equal opportunities for development."

Taking a dig at Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Gadkari said that the "helpless" PM, insulted by his own party's vice-president who called the ordinance on convicted politicians "nonsense", should resign.

Meanwhile, security has been tightened in and around the venue and arrangements have been made for medical and fire services.

Also 3,000 policemen and paramilitary personnel have been deployed at the venue.

Special buses were arranged to bring in students and supporters from far-flung areas of Delhi. The Delhi Metro ran extra trains and feeder buses anticipating a huge rush.

A traffic advisory has also been also been issued as major jams are expected at several places due to the event. (ANI)
