Designer textile apparel store Weaver Studio Wednesday hosted an exhibition to mark nineteen years of its journey.
The exhibition was inaugurated by nineteen prominent persons of West Bengal: Fashion Designers- Anamika Khanna, Agnimitra Paul, Eina Ahluwalia, Dev and Nil; Film Director Rituparno Ghosh; Danseuse Tanushree Sankar as well as Entrepreneur Madhu Neotia; General Secretary, Crafts Council of West Bengal Ruby Pal Chowdhury; Social Entrepreneur Curating and Consulting in Indian Folk Art Craft and Performance Practices Nandita Pal Choudhury and Author, columnist, curator and documentarian Ina Puri.
The exhibition to be held till Dec 15, will showcase collections comprising sophisticated fabrics, stoles, scarves, shawls, patch scrolls, art textiles, sarees and garment price ranging from 1500 above.
The textiles are all handcrafted by both men and women craftspersons using varied techniques of hand block printing, screen printing, roller textures, stencils, sprays and hand paint, surface ornamentation, hand embroidery, hand weaving, value additions such as batik, shibori, applique', felting, tribal embroidery and more.
Darshan Shah said, "Weavers Studio has dedicated itself to working at the grassroots level with craftspersons, textile and design institutes, museums, textile resource centers and experts. Its mission statement is 'Use as many hands as possible'."
