Why you're likely to feel frazzled this Friday

If you are feeling a little under the weather than you are not alone, because today is Frazzled Friday, when the festive excesses finally take their toll on people's health and bank accounts.

Overdosing on food, drink and unwelcome relatives, coupled with a realisation there is very little left in the bank to get through January, are making many people stressed out today.

And a survey found that as many as 50 per cent of people will spend the day on the sofa with the curtains closed, taking time out to settle frayed nerves, the Daily Express reported.

Nearly 75 per cent will have spent three or more days with family - one day too long, according to more than half of those questioned.

It found the average adult will have piled on 4lbs by today and a third of men over 40 will no longer be able to get into their favourite trousers.

But Ben Ayers, of film and TV streaming service Blinkbox, which commissioned the research, has said that too much booze, food and family could leave people feeling tetchy.

According to him, the perfect tonic for a Frazzled Friday is some quiet time alone in front of a good movie for a bit of selfish escapism.
