Bhagalpur: The police on Monday said the post-mortem report of a woman, whose semi-naked body was found hanging from a tree in a mango orchard at Kahalgaon city in Bihar's Bhagalpur district, revealed she was not gangraped.
Bhagalpur Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) KS Anupam told media: "The medical report has clearly established the absence of any kind of sexual activity. Going by the findings of the medical team, we believe that she probably committed suicide."
The police had earlier said a group of drunk unidentified persons dragged the 32-year-old victim to the mango orchard and raped her. Then they strangled her to death.
The victim, who was from West Bengal, was travelling on the Delhi-bound Brahmaputra Mail along with her 10-year-old son and two relatives. Her husband works in Delhi.
According to reports, she got down near Kajipur, located between Kahalgaon and Vikramshila stations, as she was feeling restless in the crowded compartment.
The police recovered the body on Sunday and sent it for a post-mortem examination.
