World Jr Tennis: India enter quarters

Kuching, Malaysia, Apr 10 (IBNS): India moved into the quarterfinals of the Asia/Oceania World Junior Tennis competition Boys under-14 category at Kuching city in Malaysia on Wednesday.

The Indian team consisting of Nitin Sinha, Vasisht Cheruku and Alex Solanki are seeded 2nd.

India beat Korea 3-0 being played on Wednesday with Alex Solanki defeated Kim Hyunjoo by 6-2, 6-2 margin.

In other singles, Nitin Sinha ousted Kwon Sion by 6-1, 6-2 margin and in double Nitin pairing with Alex downed Kim Jaewoo & Kim Hyunjoo by 6-3, 6-2.

India is in group of Phillipines, Indonesia and Korea.

On Tuesday India beat Phillipines by 3-0 margin.

In first singles, Nitin Sinha beat Jerome Romualdez by 6-1, 6-1 margin and in the second singles Alex Solanki ousted Godfrey Seno by 6-0, 6-0 margin.

In doubles, Nitin & Alex beat Godfrey and Craig Pantino by 6-3, 6-2 margin .

Earlier, in the opener India dashed Indonesia by 3-0 margin.

The win over Korea helped India to top the group.

"We now enter the Quarter Final Stage where we play Chinese Taipei tomorrow," Gary O"Brien spokesman for Indian team said in a statement.

The other top teams in the competition are Japan, Thailand, Australia, Hong Kong, China, Korea and Chinese Taipei.

16 teams from all over Asia are participating in the meet.

The top 4 teams qualify for the World Group Finals in Czech Republic in August 2013.
