Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh scalped four wickets as India thrashed defending champion England by 90 runs in a World T20 match at R Premadasa Stadium here on Sunday.
Chasing 171 runs for victory, England were all out at 80 runs in 14.4 overs.
Craig Kieswetter remained the top scorer for England with his 35 runs. He hit four boundaries and two sixes in his 25-ball innings.
The rest of the English batsmen failed to perform with the willows in Sunday´s encounter.
Alex Hales (0), Luke Wright (6), Jonny Bairstow (1), Eoin Morgan (2) failed to reach double figure mark in the match.
Experienced Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh made a dream comeback on Sunday and took four wickets in the game by giving away only 12 runs in his four overs. He also bowled two maiden overs in the match as he again proved his impact in the shorter format of the game.
Piyush Chawla also impressed with his bowling as he picked up two wickets by giving away 13 runs in his four overs.
Irfan Pathan took two wickets while Ashok Dinda scalped one wicket in the match.
Earlier, riding on Rohit Sharma´s unbeaten knock of 55 runs India scored 170 runs for the loss of four wickets in 20 overs.
Rohit hit five boundaries and a six in his 33-bal knock.
Opener Gautam Gambhir (45) and Virat Kohli (40) made some crucial contributions with their bats.
Irfan Pathan opened the innings for India along with Gambhir and scored eight runs from eight deliveries before he was bowled by Steven Finn.
Skipper MS Dhoni scored nine runs while Suresh Raina remained not out on 1 run.
Both India and England have qualified for the Super Eight stage of the tournament.
Harbhajan Singh was named the ´Player of the Match´.
