South Africa thrashed Zimbabwe by 10 wickets in a Group C match of the World T20 at the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium here on Thursday.
Chasing a target of 94 runs for victory, South African batsmen reached the winning score in just 12.4 overs.
South Africa won the toss and elected to field first.
South African bowlers dominated the match completely and restricted Zimbabwe to 93 run for the loss of eight wickets in 20 overs.
All-rounder Jacques Kallis picked up four wickets by giving away 15 runs in his four overs.
Morne Morkel picked up two wickets while Albie Morkel and Dale Steyn scalped one wicket each.
Craig Ervine remained the top scorer for Zimbabwe with his 37 runs of 40 deliveries.
Stuart Matsikenyeri (11) was the second batsman in the side to reach the double figure.
South African batsman also maintained the momentum set by the bowlers as the openers remained not out till the end and ensured the side reach the winning score quite comfortably in the end.
