World T20: SL beat WI by nine wickets

Sri Lanka thrashed West Indies by nine wickets in the Super Eights stage of the World T20 match at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium here on Saturday.

Chasing 130 for victory, Sri Lanka reached the target in 15.2 overs by losing one wicket.

Mahela Jayawardene remained the top scorer for Sri Lanka with his 65 runs from 49 deliveries. He hit 10 boundaries and a six an remained not out till the end.

Kumar Sangakkara remained unbeaten at 39 runs from 34 balls.

Sri Lanka lost the only wicket of Tillakaratne Dilshan (13).

Ravi Rampaul picked up the wicket of Dilshan.

Earlier, West Indies scored 129 runs for the loss of five wickets in their quota of 20 overs.

Marlon Samuels remained the top scorer for West Indies with his 50 runs. He smashed four boundaries and two sixes in his 35-ball innings.

Ajantha Mendis picked up two wickets by giving away 12 runs in his four overs for Sri Lanka.
