Bangalore: Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa on Saturday shed the Muzrai (religious endowment) portfolio he held and allocated it to Home Minister Dr V S Acharya.
A notification issued by the Governor H R Bhardwaj said that on the recommendations by the Chief Minister, the Muzrai department has been allocated to Acharya.

Yeddyurappa who is locked in a midst of dissidence launched by his party rebels seeking his ouster from Chief Minister post, on Saturday visited Kukke Subramanya temple 'to ward off evil spirits ruling his stars and divesting himself of the Muzrai portfolio is also on the advice of astrologers', sources said.
S N Krishnaiah Shetty who held the portfolio in the Yeddyrappa ministry had to quit after allegations of irregularities in purchase of land for housing board surfaced against him.
V Somanna, who defected from Congress to BJP was inducted into the ministry and got the Muzrai portfolio. But Somonna lost the bye-election from his bastion Govindarajanagara Assembly Constituency.
