Surajkund, Haryana, Sept 26 (IBNS): Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader BS Yeddyurappa skipped the party's national executive meeting that commenced from Wednesday at Surajkund in Haryana.

Instead of attending the meet, the former Karnataka Chief Minister has decided to join a three-day course with the Art of Living Foundation in Bangalore, media reports said.

Pertinently, the Art of Living Foundation is headed by spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar.

The relationship between Yeddyurappa and the BJP has moved through rough weathers in the recent past.

Yeddyurappa last week said he was facing ´suffocating environment´ inside the party.

He said he is waiting for a right time to decide his future.

BJP´s national executive meeting commenced from Wednesday at Surajkund and among the main issues to be discussed is FDI reforms of the government.

The top party leaders are expected to discuss and formulate the strategies to meet the current political situation of the country.

Two-day National Council meeting of the party will start from Thursday.

Top party leaders, chief ministers, and deputy chief ministers from National Democratic Alliance (NDA)-ruled states comprising 300 delegates are attending the national executive while as many as 1,200 delegates are expected to attend the BJP National Council meet.

A rally will be held on Sept 28.

The BJP is expected to discuss the current political situations of the country besides highlighting the scams that have erupted during the regime of the ruling UPA government, reports said.

Yeddyurappa, the powerful south-Indian leader of BJP, on July 31 last year was forced to resign as the Chief Minister of Karnataka after he was indicted by the then Karnataka Lokayukta N antosh Hedge in the illegal mining report.

Yeddyurappa and his family members were named by Hegde in what was called a Rs 16,000 crore illegal mining scam.

He walked out of jail on Nov 8 on bail.
