Bangalore, Oct 23 (IBNS) Former Karnataka chief minister BS Yeddyurappa on Tuesday said he will float his new political party on Dec 10.

"The procedures of starting a new party will begin tomorrow (Wednesday. My new party will be launched at a rally at Haveri on Dec 10," Yeddyurappa told reporters after performing Ayudha Pooja at his office here.

"We will fight on secular ideology," he said.

"I will resign from the state assembly and the BJP primary membership on Nov 10," he said.

However, he made it clear that no attempt will be made to topple the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Karnataka.

"I am resigning but there will not be any attempt to pull down the present government," Yeddyurappa said.

Asked if BJP president Nitin Gadkari is making any efforts to convince him not to leave the party, Yeddyurappa said: "No one is taking any such efforts. Also, I am not going to approach them for patch up. I am firm on my stand of starting my own party."

Yeddyurappa, the powerful south-Indian leader of the BJP, on July 31 last year was forced to resign as the Chief Minister of Karnataka after he was indicted by the then Karnataka Lokayukta N Santosh Hedge in the illegal mining report.

He and his family members were named by Hegde in what was called a Rs 16,000 crore illegal mining scam.

Yeddyurappa walked out of jail on Nov 8 on bail.
