Islamabad: Paying tribute to slain Pakistani prime minister Benazir Bhutto on the fourth anniversary of her death, President Asif Ali Zardari accused the nation’s chief justice Iftikhar Chaudhry of doing nothing to uncover the truth about his wife’s assassination.
Addressing a huge gathering at the mausoleum of Bhutto, Zardari said that the case of Bhutto’s assassination is still pending with the courts.
He regretted that other cases were getting the attention, while important ones were pending.
“People ask what happened to Benazir Bhutto’s case. I ask Iftikhar Chaudhry: what happened to Benazir Bhutto’s case,” Zardari said.
Benazir, who was twice elected as prime minister, was killed in a gun and suicide attack on December 27th, 2007 in Rawalpindi after addressing an election rally. No one has ever been convicted of her killing.
Zardari said the best way to pay tribute to Benazir is to foil anti-democracy 'conspiracies'.
