A Delhi court on Monday remanded two journalists of Zee News channel, who were arrested over charges of trying to extort Rs 100 crore from Congress MP and industrialist Naveen Jindal by manipulating their reportage on the alleged coal block allocation scam, to judicial custody till December 22.
The Delhi Police´s Crime Branch officials produced Sudhir Chaudhary, head of Zee News, and Samir Ahluwalia, head of Zee Business, before the court.
The officials also moved an application for their judicial remand.
The police sought the court´s permission to conduct lie detector test on the journalists beside collecting voice samples of the duo.
The Crime Branch of Delhi Police questioned Zee Group chairman Subhash Chandra and his son Punit Goenka on Saturday and Sunday in connection to the case.
Chandra on Sunday said he will file a defamation case against Jindal.
Sudhir Chaudhary and Samir Ahluwalia were arrested late last month on charges of extortion filed by Jindal´s company Jindal Steel and Power Limited (JSPL).
They are presently lodged in Tihar jail.
