]]>Clerks
Young people who aspire to become bank managers and have just completed their college education can commence their bank career as clerks. It's a position where they develop their customer relationship skills, get familiar with the top management and receive specialized training in the field they are most interested in. Hardworking clerks can rise to other positions through special exams, demonstrating results and performing above par.
Probationary Officers
It's possible for fresh graduates with degrees in law, finance, or business management to land a high ranking position at a bank. Many of the senior bank employees originally started out as trainee officers in junior management grade service that includes role of a PO. It allowed them to learn all the intricacies of the banking industry from the ground up, and better prepare them for challenges waiting ahead. As a result, they gained the trust from the bank management and eventually rose to become general managers or directors.
Specialist Officers
Applicants who want to put their new degrees to good use are expected to fill wellpaid specialist officer positions in finance, legal, human resources, marketing, systems, and other departments of the bank. They require candidates with various educational background such as engineering, chartered accountancy, law, MBA, MCA, and others.
Income Details
Working at a bank comes with a variety of perks, starting from as little as reimbursing the cost of a daily newspaper to entertainment and even fuel purchased for transport. The expected monthly salary of newly recruited clerk, probationary officer, and specialist officer is approximately Rs.15,000, Rs.22,000 and Rs 28,000 respectively. This could vary slightly depending on their qualifications, grade and the bank's location. The HRA is usually between 6.5% and 8.5%.
Additional Perks
Employees of a bank gain access to better terms on loans, mortgages and leases, as well as health insurance and new pension scheme coverage. Some places offer a fixed traveling allowance, but usually it involves reimbursing petrol bills that are presented to the bank. It is not necessary for a person to remain in a specific division for long nowadays.
Employment at a bank can also make it easier to receive continued education in banking, finance, management, credit, foreign exchange and other areas. On completion of such a course, the chance of getting transferred to other verticals within the institution is high.
Climbing up the career ladder
After being recruited and accepted into a position by a bank, new employees must realize that their performance is monitored and constantly evaluated. Although it seems like small mistakes can be forgiven during the learning stages of employment, they can become an obstacle when clerks or trainees are evaluated for a promotion in the future.
The most effective way to a successful banking career is getting to know the colleagues at the office, always asking questions when something is not clear and not being afraid to take extra responsibilities. Aspiring managers and directors should never miss a chance to participate in onsite training and receive continued education, which will allow them to become more valuable to their employer and earn a rightful place in the top rung of the management.
