State Bank of India came out with its notification for recruitment of specialist officers in the month of February 2014.The highlight of this hiring is the combined list of vacancies that exist under the state bank group.

The written exam is scheduled to happen on April 19th at various venues across India. With enough time left in our hands, let’s take a quick look at its pattern.

Unlike previous tests where candidates had to shade their answers on coding sheets, this year’s specialist cadre exam will be online. This means you'll have to click the correct answer on a computer system -similar to IBPS PO & Clerk CWE.

Here are the parts of specialist officer question paper:

  • Test of English Language

  • Reasoning and/or

  • Quantitative aptitude

You may expect 120 questions from the above categories with each answer carrying 1 mark making it 120 marks in total. Since there is no information about negative marking in recruitment notice, one can safely conclude there won’t be any negative marks awarded for wrong answer.

In addition to the above, there is also another important section: Professional knowledge.

In order to test your subject knowledge this paper will have 50 questions from specialized area of study related to the job. Since it tests your ultimate skillset, the weightage given is also high as it is allotted 100 marks.

For example, candidates who applied for Assistant Manager (systems) post would see most questions from computer science.

Qualifying scores:

  • To become eligible for next stage of selection, a candidate must secure minimum qualifying scores in English language, reasoning & aptitude.

  • The cutoff scores will be decided by the bank after completion of exam based on the performance of all participants.
