PAYMENT FAILURE SCENARIOS

When a payment fails, there are several reasons why this might happen. Here are the most common reasons, and information about what you can do.

Credit or Debit card payments

If your credit or debit card payment fails, check that you’ve entered all of these details correctly:

  • Your personal details, such as your name, billing address or billing country. These details need to correspond with the details your card issuer or bank has on file.
  • Your card number or Card Verification Code.
  • Your Verified by Visa or MasterCard SecureCode password if applicable.

If the details are correct but your order is refused or declined, it's likely that the payment was rejected by the payment provider. This may be because:

  • There are insufficient funds on your card or in your bank account.
  • Your card has expired. Select another card or update your credit or debit card details.
  • You're purchasing from, or using a card issued in, a restricted country. Your billing address must be in India.
  • You're using an anonymous proxy to access the internet.

Contact your payment provider for more information about why the payment was rejected. It's also possible that Skype and/or Sify has refused your payment because:

  • You've used the same credit or debit card for more than two different Skype accounts.
  • You’ve reached our purchasing limits.

NetBanking

If your NetBanking payment fails, check that you’ve entered all of your personal details correctly such as your name, billing address or billing country. These details need to correspond with the details your bank has on file. Also check that you have sufficient funds in the account to cover your purchase.

Refunds

You can get a refund if:

  • You haven’t used any Skype Credit purchased and make a refund request within 14 days of that purchase.
  • You have a subscription that is unused and unexpired.
  • You experience technical issues, which we determine to be the fault of Skype and/or Sify.
  • We can determine that your account has been taken over by a third party and used fraudulently.
  • We can determine that Sify has charged you in error, provided you contact us within 90 days of such charge being processed. We cannot give refunds for charges that are more than 90 days old.
  • Refund payments will be made using the same payment method used to make the initial purchase. Sify cannot complete the refund if the original payment method is no longer available, for example your credit/debit card has expired, or where the payment method doesn’t allow a refund
  • Refunds will include applicable local taxes applied at the time of purchase.

To request a refund, fill out a refund request form .

If you no longer need your subscription, it’s easy to cancel it. Cancelling stops the recurring payments, but the subscription remains active until it reaches its expiry date. For example, if you purchase a three-month subscription and then choose to cancel it after one month, the subscription will remain active until the end of the three-month period.

  • Sign in to your Skype account and, in the blue bar on the left, click the subscription you want to cancel.
  • Click Cancel subscription.
  • Click Thanks but no thanks, I still want to cancel to confirm cancellation.
  • Your subscription is cancelled, but you can continue to use it until it expires. If you change your mind and want to reactivate it, just click the Reactivate button. You can reactivate at any time until the subscription has expired.
  • If you haven't used the subscription and it hasn't expired, you can request a refund for it.

To change the billing address on your Skype account:
